“Bias Busting Computer Science” Workshop:
We will create and facilitate a 90 minute workshop including: group and individual activities, discussion prompts and practice-spaces (hypothetical data-driven virtual scenarios) to uncover and unpack participants’ mindsets and biases towards equitable and inclusive teaching practices in CS. Examples of our workshop content and facilitation material can be found in Unit 3 of the “Becoming a More Equitable Educator” course. In our workshop we’ll cover and address major key topics:  from systemic/structural inequities in CS, strategies and methods to cultivating students’ CS identity and appreciation, and tools and approaches to advocating for students to engaging in CS across cultures and communities.
